Episode 16 features Paul Nogaki from Temecula Valley Judo, and we talk about starting a new dojo.  Paul is a CPA and has started several dojos over the years, and talks not only about starting your own dojo, but also about achieving 501c3 status, which he calls the "Holy Grail" of non profits.  We discuss things such as rental space, mats, insurance, and more things to think about when starting your own dojo.  Mike Darter started www.okcdt.com in 2000 as a 501c3, and Gene Shin started www.ssjjudo.com last year, and will now be seeking 501c3 status.  Thanks Paul!

Featuring Dr. Ann Maria DeMars and Ronda Rousey, this podcast is the followup for episode 14 "Coaching Resources" and is online now for public consumption.  Gene spoke at length with Ann Maria about coaching your own kids, and Ronda about not only fighting on the mat, but fighting to get her chance on the mat.  This is a great podcast for all!  Serge Bouyssou and Jim Pedro, Sr. were both supposed to be on, but due to conflicts, they were unable to attend.  Mike was also gone for this podcast, but it is one you will not want to miss!

Creative Judo Teaching is a new book from Ken Webber and Malcolm Collins.

In this podcast they discuss the book and the underlying principles it is built upon. Covering many topics from the difference about coachinga nd teaching, about teaching in a club rather than teaching Judo in an educational context.

Ken and Malcolm are involved with British Schools Judo, previously the British Schools Judo Association, which is thepart of the BJA involved with schools Judo.

Creative Judo Teaching, covers a great range of topics and involves sections on the aspects and responsibilities of a Judo coach. On class planning, on incorporating Judo appropriately into the National Curriculum.

Episode 17, just released for members, features Scott Moore from Denver Judo.  Scott has an impressive history in visual impaired competition, as well as sighted competition.  His wins include gold medals from the 1998 World Games in Madrid, Spain, the 1998 All Japan Championships in Tokyo, Japan, and the 2000 Paralympics in Sydney, Australia. This episode was recorded live at the 2007 Nationals, where his wife, Heidi Moore won Nationals, along with the Pan Am and World team spot.  Scott discusses his experience, blind competition and instruction.

In this episode just released for the public, Mike and Gene meet with Dr. AnnMaria DeMars and returning guest Serge Bouyssou.  AnnMaria tells about some of the upcoming coaching resources that will be made available through USJA.  Serge talks about parents coaching, and the resources that he utilizes.  There is some discussion about the new coaching certification rules set forth by USA Judo.  A second podcast on coaching was followed up later featuring AnnMaria and daughter Ronda Rousey.

Lance Wicks, from the European Judo Podcast, and Mike interviewed referee Martin Bregman last week on refereeing.  Martin has refereed at the World Championships, the Olympics, and numerous other national and international competitions.  Claire Hargrave, from New Zealand was also scheduled but was unable to attend due to scheduling.  The podcast covers the diffferent levels of refereeing, the new dynamic edge rule, and other interesting stuff.  Be sure to check it out for free here.  Gene and I will also be offering another podcast soon featuring a few other referees coming soon.

Gene and Mike were in Miami, FL all weekend for the 2007 Sr. Nationals.   We got allot accomplished including a interview with Blind Paralympic athlete Scott Moore, who has had great success in sighted and visually impaired judo competitions around the world.  That interview, along with an interview recorded last week with Paul Nogaki on "Starting your own Dojo", should be available to members soon!  Added today is a free online gallery of over 160 photos from the 2007 Nationals competition.  This week we will be adding a large amount of video highlights of the competition for our members, the most that we have recorded from any competition to date!

Just added!  Video highlights of the 2007 World Police and Fire Games.  The games were held March 16-23rd in Adelaide, Australia.  The games are held every other year and have been known to have over 8,000 competitors from around the world.  Be sure to visit the WPFG's page in the members section to see over 20 videos with more on the way!  Full result listing can be found here.
